It was perhaps the most unexpected expected news of the day –Dai Young has left his role as Wasps’ director of rugby. Wasps have been on a downhill slide for a few seasons now, so in that sense, this news was expected. But at the same time, no-one thought he would actually go and certainly not mid-season; so in that sense, it was unexpected.
The Dai Young era was never a trophy-laden period for Wasps, but that didn’t matter because they always finished in the top four of Premiership Rugby and were runners-up as recently as 2017. But from then to now, things have massively changed.
